Radiation Oncologist in Nepal

 Radiation Oncologists are the cancer doctors who are super-specialised in use of radiotherapy to treat cancer.  In Nepal, approximately 40 radiation oncologists are currently available.  At Kathmandu Cancer Center (www.kccrc.org) - we have 4 radiation oncologists.  1. More than a thousand Brachytherapy Applications in Cervical Cancer: What have we learnt ?

 At Kathmandu Cancer Center, we have surpassed a thousand brachytherapy applications in Cancer of Uterine Cervix ! That on it self is a milestone because for the first time in the country, imaging guided brachytherapy based on target volume was started at our center just 2 years back. Here in this blog, we would informally discuss what we learnt with this experience. 1. Brachytherapy is fun 2. Results are satisfying 3. Patients are much more cooperative.  4. Compulsory Shower before Brachytherapy reduced infection rates. 5. Talking to the Patient during procedure makes it easy for patient and the doctor. 6.   Breast Cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in Women around the world. If detected early, most breast cancers are completely Curable. During her lifetime, every woman has 1 in 8 chances of developing breast cancer. Luckily, if we find out Breast Cancer early, can be completely cured. What is Chemotherapy ?

Since cancer cells grow and divide faster than ordinary cells, chemotherapy works by stopping the cells from dividing. This way, Chemotherapy helps reduce and kill cancer cells. What is Cancer ?

Cancer is a diagnosis which no one wants to have. But many people will have this diagnosis in their lifetime. If found out and treated early, many cancers are cured.  Cancer is an illness wherein body's cells develop wildly and spread to different parts of the body, damaging the organs and leading to person's death.  Cancer can occur in any parts of the human body. Ordinarily, human cells develop and increase (through an interaction called cell division) to make new cells as the body needs them.
